The People of the Plateau
The people of plateau lived in a small region which included southern interior of British Columbia and Alberta. The plateau consists of high plateau between the British Columbia coastal mountains and the Rocky Mountains which at lower elevation is made of grasslands or subarctic forest. There are 3 main groups in this region:the Plateau people of Canada were divided into three main
groups: the Athapascan, Interior Salish, and Ktunaxa. These three groups
further get divided into 8 groups. But the 3 major languages were from these
three groups. Some archaeologist think that people of the plateau moved to the plateau around 1700BCE. These people were from the western regions of Canada and United States. People who lived in the northern forest from present-day British Colombia moved south, also some people who lived on the dry, southern edge of the plateau moved north. These 2 groups seeking a much more comfortable climate.
